This Privacy Policy describes how Squares App Inc., a Delaware corporation ("Squares", "we", "us", or "our"), collects, uses, discloses, and protects information obtained from users ("you", "your") of the Squares website, mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service you consent to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information you provide

  • Account data: name, email address, phone number, password hashes, profile photo, country.
  • Host listing data: venue title, description, address, photos, capacity, pricing, contact details (e.g. WhatsApp), and any other content you upload.
  • Payment data: when you purchase credits or a subscription, billing information is processed by our third-party payment providers (e.g. Paddle). We do not store full card numbers.
  • Communications: messages you send to us via email, contact forms, or in-app channels.

1.2 Information collected automatically

  • Device and log data: IP address, browser type, operating system, referrer, pages viewed, timestamps, and crash reports.
  • Cookies and similar technologies for authentication, preferences, analytics, and fraud prevention.
  • Approximate location derived from IP address.

1.3 Information from third parties

If you sign in via Google or another OAuth provider, we receive basic profile information (name, email, avatar). We may also receive data from analytics, fraud-prevention, and translation providers.

2. How We Use Information

  • To provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
  • To create and manage your account and authenticate sessions.
  • To process payments, credits, unlocks, and subscriptions.
  • To translate user-submitted listings into supported languages.
  • To prevent fraud, abuse, spam, and violations of our Terms.
  • To send transactional notices, security alerts, and (with consent where required) marketing communications.
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.

3. Legal Bases (EEA/UK Users)

Where GDPR applies, we rely on: (a) performance of a contract; (b) our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service; (c) your consent (which you may withdraw); and (d) compliance with legal obligations.

4. How We Share Information

  • Hosts and guests: when you unlock a venue, contact details (such as WhatsApp and address) are revealed to you. Hosts can see aggregate analytics about views and unlocks.
  • Service providers: hosting, database, analytics, email, translation, and payment processors acting under contract on our behalf.
  • Legal and safety: to comply with law, valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Squares, our users, or others.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.
  • We do not sell your personal information.

5. International Transfers

Squares App Inc. is based in the United States and operates globally. Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, which may have different data protection laws. We use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) where required.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion at any time, subject to legal retention requirements.

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can delete it.

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. Review their policies before providing information.
